About
The Annual King and Queen contest is one of the Emancipation Proclamation Association’s fundraising activities. The funds help to offset the cost of the organization’s goals and activities. The Association’s main purpose is to keep the Emancipation’s purpose at the forefront of the community. The King and Queen contest allows young boys and girls to learn about Black History, visit historical sites, and learn about grace and proper decorum.
Below are the participation forms needed to nominate a candidate from your church or organization. Please complete the forms and return them to P. O. Box 40095, North Charleston, SC 29423. Membership to the Emancipation Proclamation Association of Charleston is not required, but is encouraged, to participate.
We strive to make this year as successful as in the past. We implore you to participate in and support this annual contest. Let’s make this a wonderful and memorable event for our children. All participants will receive a trophy and an invitation to our annual Emancipation Proclamation Parade on New Year’s Day. Contact us for additional information.
